Victims of Crime NT Inc. (formerly known as VOCAL) was started in 1995 by a group of concerned citizens who felt that offenders were getting more rights than victims of crime. In 1996, as a community organisation, the NT Government granted us funding to operate an office manned by volunteers.

In 1998, to reflect the needs of service delivery requirements, a full-time Executive Officer was appointed.

In August 2005, the organisation restructured yet again to accommodate growth and two full-time positions were created; a full-time Manager and a full-time Volunteer Coordinator who is responsible for the recruitment, training and ongoing supervision of our team of volunteers. These positions were overseen by our Managment Committee.

In 2015 the organisation restructured again when the Northern Territory government funded our Safe At Home Program. We are now an incorporated association that has a staff of 6 people and 12 volunteers. Our entire team is responsible for and dedicated to ensuring we meet our clients’ day to day needs.

We recieve funding from the Northern Territory Government Department of Attorney General and Justice and the Department of Corrections sentenced to a job scheme but we also rely on donations from the public and philanthropists. With this help we now provide a 24 hour a day, 365 days a year support service for Victims of Crime in the Northern Territory
