My aim is to contribute to the wellbeing of my clients through meaningful, caring and professional bodywork, in a safe healing space. I provide an integrated approach, combining the complimentary elements of Fascial Kinetics Bowen Therapy, Massage Therapy and energy work to create a treatment unique to each client’s needs.

What is Fascial Kinetics Bowen Therapy?

Bowen therapy is a gentle and complimentary, non-invasive, soft tissue remedial therapy. It facilitates the healing process, relieves physical dysfunction and pain, and is used in preventative care. It is safe to use on people of all ages from infants to the elderly, pregnant women, and for acute and chronic pain and disease.
Bowen Therapy works on the fascia (a connective tissue) directly underlying the skin and in the muscle. The fascia is a fibrous network, appearing as a weblike structure, which is responsible for the effectiveness of the circulatory and lymphatic systems. It effects muscle function and houses the muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints and nerves.
When dehydration or injury occurs, the bundled fibres of the fascia draw close becoming ‘glued’. This restricts the movement and flow of structures and fluids within the fascia. The transverse push and pull action of the Bowen Move over the fascia separates the fibrous bundles. This reduces the gluing effect by allowing rehydration to occur.
Dehydration can be caused by physical and emotional stress such as insufficient water consumption, exposure to high temperatures (ie sunbaking, sunburn), trauma, disease, smoking, poor diet, alcohol and caffeine.

What is Therapeutic Massage?

Therapeutic Massage Therapy is the manual manipulation of soft body tissues to enhance a person’s health and well-being. It is a complimentary, non-invasive body therapy that utilizes long gliding strokes, kneading, friction and deep pressure to facilitate pain relief and relaxation.

Bowen and Massage Therapy can be used for a number of conditions including, but not limited to –
Migraine/Headaches, RSI, Sinus Congestion/Pain,
TMJ Syndrome, Frozen Shoulder, Rotator Cuff Injury,
Sciatica, Carpal Tunnel, Back Pain,
Strain and Sprain, MS, Respiratory Complaints,
Whiplash, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue,
Menstrual Pain, Joint Pain, Constipation,
Irritable Bowel, Tendonitis, Broken/Bruised Coccyx,
Growing Pains, Shin Splints, Musculoskeletal pain

Bowen Therapy can also help to prepare the body for birth, and assist with symptoms of pregnancy and breastfeeding including –
Restless legs, Cramps, Upper and Lower Back Pain,
Hip Pain, Mastitis, Pelvic Discomfit

Bowen can be performed on the skin or through light clothing. An average of three to four treatments at weekly intervals is usually sufficient, although this does vary depending on the injury or condition requiring treatment.

An initial Bowen and Massage treatment with assessment takes an hour and a half. Standard sessions are sixty minutes, however depending on your need and preference, sessions can range in time from thirty to ninety minutes.

About Me
My first experience with Bowen Therapy occurred about ten years ago as a client seeking treatment. I found that experience profoundly impacted me physically, emotionally and mentally. It was to be the beginning of a journey that transformed the way I viewed the treatment of the body and the person as a whole.
I started training in Bowen Therapy through ‘Fascial Kinetics’ not long after, where I not only learnt the technique, but also the anatomy of the fascia and how the Bowen Move effects this remarkable tissue structure.
I have 6 years of Bowen experience and have had many unique and teachable moments working with this therapy. Having been present at the birth of two babies as a friend and Bowen Practitioner, I have seen first hand the positive impact Bowen has during labour and in prenatal, perinatal and postnatal care.
In wanting to bring the best care to my clients, I continue to add to my qualifications recently having completed a Certificate IV in Therapeutic Massage Therapy. I also hold certificates in Reiki and Body Harmony.
