Hello there!

I’m Ashleigh, the photographer behind Silque Photography & Design. Where to begin? I’ve lived in Canberra most of my life (with a few stints in Melbourne, Darwin and the Gold Coast), and would love nothing more than to spend the rest of my life travelling the world. I love anything that allows me to express my creativity and I think for me, photography is the best way to do this. It makes me happy because I like to see other people happy. I’m also a keen people watcher- I could sit and watch people interact all day so I guess photography just takes my love for people watching to the next level. Photography has allowed me to live in the moment and see the beauty in everything. For this, I am thankful.

I never follow recipes, I’m a firm believer that music makes the world go-round and I like op shopping, up-cycling furniture, my pancakes half cooked and dipping my choc top in my popcorn at the movies. I’m also pretty sure I was born in the wrong era. Take me back to the 50s, 60s & 70s please!

My philosophy…

I like to keep things simple and I hate saying “cheese”. If you don’t want to smile, then you don’t have to. During a photo shoot, I like to be the fly on the wall. Sure, I’ll give you some direction, but I much prefer to just watch you interact with your loved ones. This shows the real story- not your relationship with the camera. I believe every client should have ownership of their photos on a USB, so I include that in every one of my packages. I also like to make each photo session fun and easy for everybody. I promise you’ll leave feeling pleasantly surprised how painless a photo session can be.
