So my love affair for restoring furniture began back in my early teens alongside my Mum. She would spend countless days and nights (regardless of the weather) out in the shed (sound familiar).
Well, it got the better of me! So I in turn would follow her. I spend a numbers of weeks just watching and asking questions (which I'm sure drove her nuts). It was then I spent $20 on a occasional table to have a go myself. Surprisely the technique came naturally and I was away.
The bond between mother and daughter grew along with the restoration of furniture.

I then after a few years decided to have a break, get married (stupidly) and start a family. While the passion was still there, time wasn't. Raising 3 sons was not easy and they definitely kept me on my toes. My marriage sadly fell apart and I moved forward with my life, still yearning to get back into furniture restoration. I spent a few years dabbling here and there, but nothing to serious.

My sons grew up and I flew the nest. Yes that's right, I left home hehehe. And found myself the most amazing supportive partner. We had been together a few years and I was toying with the idea of getting back into the one thing I loved. With a naturally flair for decorating and handy man work I built up the courage to talk to my partner about it.

With a frown on his face and a roll of the eyes, he said yea sure why not. I'm not sure at this point he realized how involved he would be hehehe.
He has now become my prep boy, cleaner, handy man and buffer. Oh not to mention my taxi and my one and only :-).

So, this lends me to where we are today. With baby steps and him by my side we are going to create some stunning rustic aged and elegant pieces.
