In the year 1992 at the age of 15 Marnix Spaans started his career while studying woodworking, as a cabinetmaker and joiner in the Netherlands. In 2003 at the age of 26 he started, with his former business-partner Nico van Egmond, the still successful cabinetmaking company SpaansEnVanEgmond.nl. In 2014 Marnix Spaans left to Australia to chase his dreams and start another woodworking and custom made furniture business.
