Miss Jodie-Lee Buckley is the Principal of JL Dance.
When you come to JL Dance you will always be personally nurtured by Miss JL. Miss JL began dancing at the young age of 5; she has been trained in all areas of Dance; with many different styles. Competing in eisteddfods, dancing, and participating in workshops here in Australia and Overseas, Miss JL attended classes at - The Edge and Millennium Dance Studios in America, Ministry of Dance in Melbourne and also with the Sydney Dance Company. As a dancer Jodie-Lee has achieved many areas on the hall of fame, Choreographer Award, Contemporary Award, Entertainment Award. Miss JL will always be remembered for her “Gertrude Character” Miss JL competed in the very first “So you think you can dance” series and got through to the 4th round to be told she is too versatile a dancer… being able to dance, all styles… Miss JL has a current 1st aid certificate, a current and valid Working with Children Check/Clearance, Royal Academy of Dance Teaching Qualifications, (enabling her to put her students through exams etc) and has attended Teacher’s Courses at the Royal Academy of Dance/Sydney and the Alegria Ballet School/Sydney, under the guidance of Hilary Kaplan (RAD National Examiner) and Archibald McKenzie, gaining a Distinction...

Prior to opening JL Dance, over 6 years, Miss JL had worked casually with children aged 3-18 years, in Childcare Centre’s and Schools, Choreographed performance presentations in primary schools for teachers, and also taught Dance as a sport in a High School, Miss JL has been a freelance dance teacher; her students have gained high achievements, most only dancing in restricted sections once. Miss JL is a supportive teacher, who wants the best for all individuals that she teaches.

Miss JL believes that the enjoyment of watching her student’s talent develop is what makes her job one of the most rewarding jobs imaginable.

In 2011, Miss JL decided it was time to open her own Studio and pass on her passion and her dedication to the next generation.

2012 - JL Dance - In the first year of operation, JL Dance has already received many major awards, Adjudicators choice for OUTSTANDING CHOREOGRAPHY AWARD, along with many first places at eisteddfods, putting 4 students through R.A.D Exams with Students gaining distinctions, but the thing that is most positive has been the feedback regarding her students and the studio, from many eisteddfods organizers, being known as the ‘friendly studio’ Miss JL believes her students are a reflection not only on her studio but on herself.. Great sportsman ship is important…

2013 saw Miss JL further her studies through the Royal Academy of Dance in London via correspondence… and became an Australian Teachers of Dancing, ATOD registered teacher... 5 students sat for their RAD Exams, again with Students gaining Distinctions... Miss JL attended "working with children" safety seminars.

2014 has been an extremely busy year, writing and implementing her very own Philosophy and Code of Conducts. JL Dance has a zero tolerance to bullying, this year Miss JL choreographed a routine to reflect this. By the end of this year it will mark the end of 5 years of studies, but Miss JL is always looking to maintain her studies and standards to provide the best for her students, she believes if she can't provide the best, she will source the best...

2015 is going to be bigger and better!!! it will see JL Dance expanding to bigger and better things... Adding new classes!!! Fairy Ballet for 2 year olds, Teeny Tots Tap Teeny Tots TSS and a BOYS ONLY TSS/Stretch Class for any athlete to ensure their body is stretched and ready to cope with any sport, yes you may be stretching, but are you stretching correctly?

“Just a thought, sometimes I see dance people criticize other dance people for actions they do or have done themselves. If we all make it a rule to never judge those who love to do the same thing we do…. We would all be more productive.”
