Ipswich Musical Theatre Company was founded in 2001 with the aim to provide opportunities for local amateur performers of all ages, to participate in large scale musical theatre productions.

The company produces intimate theatre pieces in the historic Old Ipswich Courthouse and major productions in the Ipswich Civic Centre. Major productions include Oliver, Annie, The Wizard of Oz, Beauty and the Beast, South Pacific, The King and I, The Producers, The Boy from Oz and The Sound of Music.

In 2015, IMTC won an Australia Day Award for this ground breaking 2014 production of The Phantom of the Opera. This production enjoyed a sold out season with many patrons travelling great distances to attend.

Since that production, IMTC has continued to bring premiere productions to Ipswich with Mary Poppins (2015) and Wicked (2016).

From small and humble beginnings, IMTC is now recognised as a major community theatre company capable of staging the biggest and most technically challenging shows.

Alongside these productions, is our Juniors programme, providing young people with training in musical theatre, culminating in a fully staged production each year.
