In Tune With Infants 2.04

It is often remarked that the first 3 months of life are the "fourth trimester". It is a period where significant brain development occurs outside the womb, as if the baby's head became any larger in utero it would not fit through the mother's pelvis in childbirth.

Hearing is one of the first senses to develop, and a newborn infant gains knowledge about the world through his/her ears.

From the parents' perspective, being a first-time parent can be characterised by positive emotions such as joy, happiness, contentment. It is also a time of significant changes to lifestyle, sleep patterns, and independence. Developing a relationship with your child & understanding their needs can eleviate negative feelings.

There are few programs offered to parents with infants in the first year of life. "In Tune With Infants" provides a music-based program to:
1) increase feelings of parental competency
2) encourage parents' sense of agency in their infant's life, and
3) provide ideas for creating routine & familiarity in family life.

The program consists of two sessions, of 45-minutes duration each. The program aims to provide the parent/s with the tools to incorporate music with their infant in their daily lives.
