Hawthorn Artist Society members enjoy:
Attending classes with successful, professional teaching artists. Currently Yvonne Audette, Nathan Paramanathan, Jenny Scoles, Janice McBride, Raphael Zimmerman and Shane Kent teach at the studio.
Participating in life drawing, painting and portraiture practice sessions. There are several life drawing sessions scheduled through the week including long sessions which run for several weeks and a portrait session on Thursday.
Attending talks by successful professional artists.
Exhibiting through the Society’s events
Meeting studying and working with like minded artists
Connecting to others through the Society’s web site and electronic newsletters.
The Society has a proud history spanning over thirty five years. During that time many hundreds of artists, including some of the most distinguished artists in Australia, have worked, studied, lectured and participated in activities at the Society’s studio.
The Society’s base is primarily local. It encourages a wide range of styles and methods of drawing and painting. The particular styles and emphasis are determined by the participants. The excellence and reputation achieved by its teachers and leading members attracts participants from a wide area.
