Community Transport Program: we provide transport for community members to medical and social outings, utilising volunteer drivers. The primary funding for this program is provided by Home and Community Care and the Department of Health and a donation fee is contributed by the clients who utilise the service. We also coordinate other community transport programs that are not directly funded but are sponsored through in-kind partnerships between a number of community organisations. Our funding also enables us to support other local community transport providers with mentoring and advice and the establishment of a generic database and booking service to enable better utilisation of local assets.
2. The Volunteer Friends Program: a respite program offering opportunities to 16+ year old individuals, who have a disability and live independently or permanently with carer. We provide the opportunity to enjoy social gatherings, holidays and outings. This program is funded by Dept. of Human Services and the participants also pay a contribution towards activity costs.
3. The Getting There Network: provides a portal for all transport information, services and assistance programs as well as being a means for the better utilisation of transport assets in the community. The Network's network of services and information assists in bridging the gap between public, commercial and community services throughout our Region. We provide a number of programs to enable better access to transport and understanding ; travel training and transport information to enable the better utilisation and access of transport services; training for volunteer and community drivers to ensure consistency of service; transport experts within communities to provide locally based information regarding transport and access; working with rural communities to develop locally based transport solutions; providing information to ensure senior members of our communities can remain driving safely; providing up to date information via our website and 1300 number.
