Welcome to ATD Welding Services! This page is hopefully marking the beginning of a successful small business owned and operated by myself - Jay Vidler. Those of you who know me and have worked alongside me would surely vouch for my work ethic, motivation, skills, ideas and constant strive for perfection in anything I lay my hand to. I have derived the name for my business from one of my attributes - Attention To Detail. I guarantee this will be applied to whatever the task at hand. As for my trade background, I commenced work in the fabrication industry at the age of 16 in the form of a VET course at Rockingham High School. This saw me complete my pre apprenticeship at Austal Ships throughout years 11 and 12. From there I continued my apprenticeship post high school at Austals, completing it in January 2006. I am proud to say I completed my apprenticeship at Austal Ships. It ensured I was exposed to a wide variety of fabrication and welding, from small jobs to the extremely large modules, from the mundane and repetitive to the precise and individual tasks.

In January 2006 I moved on Score Practical Welding Solutions where I was lucky enough to be exposed to some of the more exotic materials including Titanium, duplex, inconel and stainless steel to name a few. This is where I became proficient at GTAW welding, from build up to 100% XRAY - you name it.

Learning how to weld with the GTAW process to such a high standard opened a door into the mining industry at the age of 21 in 2007. I commenced on the maintenance crew at a nickel mine and processing plant - Murrin Murrin. The work here continued to develop my skills in GTAW, as well as exposing me to plenty of FCAW and MMAW, and saw me completing not only pipe welding and fitting, but structural, tank and plenty of site work. It's one thing to be capable of quality in a workshop environment, but another all together to maintain that quality on site.

The idea of ATD Welding Services sprung to mind whilst I was working at Murrin Murrin, however an offer to go offshore and get into the automated subsea pipeline welding proved too tempting. My time at Murrin came to an end in March 2012 when I was recruited via a recommendation to work for McDermotts on the Macedon pipeline off the coast of WA. The recommendation came from someone who had witnessed my ability to weld to first class standards in GTAW.

Since that job, I have completed 3 offshore pipelines, with various shutdowns and maintenance jobs in between, including a stint on the Karratha Gas Plant for Woodside. Time has come to give ATD Welding Services the opportunity it deserves to become the recommended choice of mobile welding and fabrication services available in the Perth metro area.

I hope you all get on the band wagon, support a local business run by a bloke with home grown skills and an eagerness to exceed expectations.
