The best half way stop in South Africa

One of the most important highways in South Africa, the N1 slices through almost the full width of the country, linking the major cities of Johannesburg and Pretoria with Cape Town, some 1500 kilometres apart. It also forms part of a popular route to Durban and the Eastern Cape centres of Knysna, Plettenberg Bay and Port Elizabeth. A break in a journey of such length is essential for comfortable (and safe) motoring. That ideal break is provided by Springfontein Guesthouse in the village of Springfontein in the Free State, ideally sited 145 kilometres south of Bloemfontein and 80 kilometres north of Colesburg.
