The South African pure-bred Connemara Pony breed is in crisis. With less than 20 breeding mares and 3 stallions left due to extensive out-crossing and reduction in gene pool. The original Stud based in Clarens, Free State, South Africa has retired from breeding leaving a handful of breeders left to continue the Ashgar legacy. This Page is designed to raise awareness of the situation and to solicit marketing interest to help sustain a conservation program to prevent the diminishing numbers.
