Moonlighting is one of South Africa’s foremost production companies, made up of Moonlighting Commercials, Moonlighting Films and Thread (digital). We work throughout Southern Africa from our base in Cape Town, supporting international filmmakers from around the world.

We were established in 1989 by founder Philip Key who was one of the first to market South Africa internationally as a production destination.

Moonlighting Commercials provides production services for tv commercials, stills, doccies and all multi-media platforms. With over 1200 productions to date, Philip Key, EP Shayne Brookstein and our dynamic production and research team work with clients from over 30 countries around the world.

Thread is our digital company, set up in 2015. In production for just over a year, they create and programme brand-relevant content that will reach and engage with its target audience. Highlight work so far includes Sony Xperia Mashlab – an online, collaborative music “lab” that has created 10 songs from initial concept and choice of artist to song development and music video. www.thread.co.za
