Knysna Motor Show 3.39

The Knysna Motor Show is organised and run by the Garden Route Motor Club (GRMC). The event is organised by a dedicated volunteer show committee, over a period of four months with total commitment and team effort, spending many hours in the planning and implementation ably supported by GRMC and MG Car Club South Cape members assisting with the layout of the display areas, the marshalling on the day and selling tickets.
The prime focus of the show is to attract the best quality and variety of Classic and Veteran cars, and motorcycles including potential modern classics. Participants, from all over the country, being personally invited ensure a show with a difference satisfying the participants who display their vehicles as well as providing a unique event for visitors to the show. The success of past years has gained the show a reputation on the motoring calendar as a ‘must participate in’ and/or ‘visit’.
In 2015 a strong focus was placed on vintage and veteran motorcycles - road, racing and off-road attracting some 45 motorcycles including a few very rare motor cycles such as the 1955 Jawa racing motor cycle (one of three in the world) to the great collection of Norton’s from 1926, Ducati’s, Yamaha’s, Grieves, Moto Guzzi and BMW’S etc. Motorcycles remain a main stream attraction at the show
The show also has an educational slant from display in past years of the supersonic BLOODHOUND car, the Nelson Mandela Metro University ECO CAR project to local businesses sharing their knowledge and demonstrating how an engine, gearbox, transmission and differential gear works, the function of a radiator and the importance of tyres and wheels.
New vehicle franchise dealers also have the opportunity to show case the latest new vehicle models on offer
An important element of the motor show is to raise monies to support local charities with the following having benefitted in the past; Hospice, Knysna Animal Welfare, FAMSA, E-Pap, Knysna High School and Change for Change.
The show is completed with entertainment for the children gourmet food stalls and a beer garden all set in a relaxed country style atmosphere in the heart of the Garden Route.
