OUR JOURNEY SO FAR

A great idea can happen at any time, in any place. But here’s a secret. It’s far more likely to take hold on a stormy night beside a roaring fire, in a quaint cottage submerged in the warm reverberations of scratchy vinyl classics, a glass of your finest red in hand and a home-cooked feast in your recent past. Yes, with the senses so suitably satisfied, it makes perfect sense that the imagination would take the driver’s seat. Because isn’t that what a great idea is, essentially? A journey?

We didn’t know it at the time, but it was on that thundery night, beside that very fireplace in that hillside cottage, that Fred & Max was born. It’s been our journey ever since. And as you know, every journey crowns in a destination. What had its humble beginnings as a unique men’s clothing and apparel brand—inspired by the distinctive style and flair of our beloved grandfathers, Frederik Johannes Pretorius & Max Neubert—fast became something so much more. Our idea had grown legs and learnt to walk. It was time to take the next step.

Fred & Max Eatery is a melting pot for our collected inspiration and imagination; a crossroads where these extraordinary ideas—these journeys—merge, mix, and bubble over. A tailored café and bistro quite unlike anything else you might’ve experienced; an epicurean eatery—reminiscent of the old-world, European sidewalk variety—both sophisticated and sincere, charismatic and charming.

Today, we can’t make any promises with regards to our next destination. But we’d like to invite you along on our journey. If nothing else, it should be one hell of a ride.
