DC Life, Style and Living 3.66

Dc Style (Now known as DC Lifestyle and living) was born from a passion I’ve carried in my heart for years. A passion built from a love for fashion, beauty, entertainment and people. For the longest time DC lifestyle and living was just an idea that kept floating around in my head. Until I found myself in a position where my financial situation had become dire and I needed a way to earn an additional income. I decided take parts of the idea and use that to obtain this income I so desperately needed. What started off as a host of pamper parties doing beauty treatments such as nails, hair, pedicures, selling beauty products and costume jewelry, became a platform from which I learnt what others wanted with regard to products, their shopping experiences, their financial burdens, the costs of living. This exposed me to what the everyday person needed, wanted and could do with….and also to what people living life everyday was experiencing….the good and bad. For a few months I went quiet but this time was a great time to reflect on life and in so doing decided I wanted to once again find a venture I was passionate about that could assist me with my expenses as most people these days are not able to get by on just a single income (something I had to learn the hard way). This led me to the selling of clothes, beauty products, jewelry, cleaning products, shoes the list is endless and once again doing my nails, all after hours and only through the use of my cell phone and an e-mail address. I was able to find suppliers who were more than accommodating and formed relationships that broadened my horizon. One of my great loves has always been for the city and country I have grown up in. Johannesburg and South Africa in a whole has always been for me a place that I am extremely proud of. I have a passion for the people, the places, the untold stories of laughter and tears and the immense talent that this country has. I remembered a trip taken to America a few years back that got me thinking about all the friends we had made around the world that fell in love with every word we had to say about South Africa. As South Africans we missed home a lot and missed out on many special holidays and birthdays that we couldn’t spend with our families. We all had stories to tell about home that had people from across the board listening and absorbing….we were no longer the deprived, starving nation they kept advertising on TV but rather a place with such a beautiful heritage. It was also there that I added a dimension to the dream that I would one day have a platform on which to tell people about SA…to let even South Africans be aware of the beauty, the entertainment , the many amazing things we had going for ourselves. I had no idea at the time that I would be able to combine the two worlds…. supplying people with affordable goods (even being able to help fellow SA lovers that are still abroad to send their loved ones gifts on special occasions whilst being miles away)and still feeling a part of home by reading the stories about real life in SA. Listening to what people wanted, finding it and making it easier for them to obtain as well as giving Johannesburg (SA) a voice by letting people know what was going on out here. Helping people like myself, that are trying to start small businesses or earn a second income by providing a platform on which to tell their story whilst gaining a clientele and being able to have certain resources made accessible to them. What started out as just an idea driven by a passion, a hope and a dream and years of persistence has suddenly become something I know is not only doable but has the potential to be a great success with definite growth possibilities. I am excited to set out on this mind blowing adventure of making these two ideas merge as one, and have already embarked on a way forward with the help of some amazing people who have faith in the project and are committed to making it work….we are almost there.
