The CDC is a state owned entity formed in 1999 and mandated to develop and operate the Coega Industrial Development Zone (IDZ) which is located adjacent the modern deep water port facility, Port of Ngqura.The Coega IDZ, located close to the bustling Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality (NMBM), is South Africa’s foremost investment location for industries with a global perspective. The CDC strives to improve the delivery of infrastructure in the Eastern Cape by addressing skills shortages, unemployment, constrained planning and project management capacity which results in under-expenditure. The CDC acts as a strategic business development catalyst that supports investment and has created jobs and opportunities to uplift the socio-economic status of the NMBM area, the Eastern Cape and the country.
