1 (a) History and name of the Church
The name of the church shall be BAPTIST COMMUNITY CHURCH, hereinafter referred to by the name or the church. The Baptist Community Church was initiated by the Scandinavians’ Missionaries under the name Scandinavian Independent Baptist Union in the year 1899, in Natal. In 1977 the Missionaries handed over the church to the South Africans and the name was changed to Independent Baptist Church; with head office situated in Natal. In 1984, due to certain differences, Natal remained Independent and Transvaal branches were renamed to Transvaal Independent Baptist Church. In 1984, due to Government renaming of provinces, it was agreed upon to use the name “Baptist Community Church”, hereinafter referred to by the name or the church.
