Who are we?
We are a group of normal everyday people like you who want to contribute our strength, time, and talent in anyway we can to help anyone and everyone get access to safe drinking water. Simply put - we believe that having access to safe drinking water is a right.
Our goal?
Build a cheap portable solar still that can purify contaminated water and desalinated seawater using locally made materials.
What we have done so far?
1) We build our 1st prototype solar still two months ago. We were able to produce ~1 liter of drinking water per day for a 0.5 m2 unit with a single slope flat basin solar still. Bases on our result and calculation, we can achieve better water production of up to 6 liters per day for a 2 square meters unit (double slope solar still with aluminum fins) by enhancing and using better insulated materials, reducing the ambient temperature of the condensation surface, and introducing aluminum finned basin into the design.
2) Our sponsors introduced us to a manufacture in Ben Tre province to help us refine and build version 2 in early May 2016 with the hope to increase water production performance.
3). We had successfully secured initial funding to start building version 2. Our plan is to build 5 units (~$50 per unit) and give it to people who needed it most and study it effectiveness and performance. Our goal is to drive the cost down and increase the water production performance before securing more funding to mass-produce it.
4) Our founding team consists of 5 volunteers, 2 advocates, and 2 sponsors.
