York High School is a four-year public school serving the town of York, Maine. It is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and the State of Maine Department of Educational and Cultural Services. Built in 1977 and remodeled in 1999 and 2010, York High School is set on 72 acres one quarter mile from the Atlantic Ocean. The town of York is a steadily growing community, having nearly doubled in size from 1970 to a population of 14,000. The major employers in the area are tourism related, York Hospital, Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Liberty Mutual and businesses at the Pease International Tradeport, as well as the Boston and Portland areas.
