ALWAYS ORIGINAL

We aren’t like the others. We weren’t from the start. When YAS opened in 2001, it was the only one of its kind. Founder, tri-athlete, and cancer survivor, Kimberly Fowler, wanted a workout that combined the stretching and strengthening of yoga with the intense cardio of cycling. When she looked around and couldn’t find it, she built it herself.

A place to be empowered and motivated with the no-nonsense workouts people need and the expert instruction they deserve. Named YAS because it offered a unique combination of yoga and spinning, the studio’s original hybrid workout sparked a fitness revolution.

The first studio opened on Abbot Kinney in Venice long before Venice was cool. It wasn’t just the hybrid workout that was unique, the studio looked different too. Unlike other studios, YAS gave people fresh air and room to breathe.

Members didn’t think, chant, ride, or dress the same. At YAS, you could be yourself. Executives, celebrities, artists and neighbors worked out side-by-side. YAS became more than a place to get fit—it was a place where everyone fit in.

Soon, YAS was training more instructors in their no risk, all rewards philosophy and opening studios along the West Coast. With every location they remained true to their roots, building in up-and-coming neighborhoods where an eclectic mix of people would come to spin and stretch.

Many years and studios later, YAS has evolved but our innovative spirit lives on. We were, and remain, the only studios to combine spinning without the scene and yoga without the Om. Because when you’re an original, you do more than blaze new trails. You set the standard everyone else must follow.
