Welcome to the family and ministry of Western Avenue. We are a vibrant community where people from all walks of life experience change and spiritual growth. Through contemporary and traditional worship we provide a nurturing atmosphere for all ages. With the Lord’s inspiration we deliver dynamic preaching and authentic worship to renew the lives of those who enter our doors.

Our rich heritage began in 1916 in a humble barn raised by freed slaves. Located between Harvard and Central Square, we aim to continue our founders’ call to cultivate worship at the heart of Christ and the beloved community.
