Mission Statement (adopted/estimated by the congregation June 1998)

The mission of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Plattsburgh is to provide for a religious community where freedom or worship, speech and thought are welcomed, protected and fostered. We affirm and encourage spiritual and intellectual growth, and the use of the democratic process. We support actions and activities that benefit the environment, embrace human diversity, and provide for the common good.

Vision Statement (adopted by the congregation June 2008)

Members of the UUFP strive to:

1. Sustain an inclusive, open, free and safe spiritual and religious community that nurtures a sense of belonging and connection among its members.
2. Be recognized and acknowledged in the greater Plattsburgh area as an inclusive community committed to good works and social justice.
3. Provide spiritual, religious and ethically focused services and programs that challenge and support us to grow together in community.
4. Provide spiritual, religious and ethically focused services and programs that challenge and support each of us as individuals to develop spiritually and ethically.
5. Provide an exemplary religious education program for adults and children.
6. Provide a place of worship that is physically accessible, comfortable and aesthetically pleasing.
7. Live and work together in all ways consistent with UU Principles and values.

Unitarian Universalist Principles

There are seven principles which Unitarian Universalist congregations affirm and promote:

1) The inherent worth and dignity of every person;
2) Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;
3) Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;
4) A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;
5) The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large;
6) The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all;
7) Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.
