The Woman's Club 3.25

The Woman’s Club was chartered at a time when many women did not attend college, and few owned property in their own names. Yet the energetic founders not only put together an organization exclusively for themselves, but also established vital civic institutions ranging from the Richmond Public Library to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.

The Bolling Haxall House is the club’s most visible connection with the community. Today, the historic headquarters is open to visitors and serves as a regular venue for weddings, receptions and meetings. Its protection and preservation is one of the Club’s top priorities.
