Details

The Urban Renewal Farm (TURF) is a growing project that aims to convert a dilapidated and vacant factory in East Dayton into a thriving urban agriculture operation.

TURF is a community driven initiative that eventually aims to provide fresh produce to those who have difficulty accessing healthy foods. Moreover, the project will educate the community on the importance of locally-sourced food, proper nutrition, how to grow one's own food, and why it all matters.

With so much space in the factory, the possibilities for development are endless. The primary goal is to grow as much produce as possible. However, with a commitment to sustainability and ecological stewardship, TURF engages in many different domains to reach this goal: permaculture, vermaculture, aquaponics, beekeeping, upcycling, and many other creative growing techniques.

Since the project is just getting started, we need volunteers of all abilities and skills. If you're a farmer, gardener, botanist, carpenter, mason, plumber, electrician, artist, someone who can further marketing and development, or simply someone who's capable and wants to help, please contact us and get involved. Presently, all help is strictly voluntary.

Those interested in furthering the project, please contact us through this page or Jim Wellman (TURF's head honcho) at jwellman1@hotmail.com.
