The Popped Popcorn Company was originally established by the Kistler family as SB Popcorn.

In the 1970s, the Kistler’s son, Gregory, was injured in an automobile accident. Fort Smith did not have a treatment center for children at that time, so they sought treatment in a another state.Years later, the Kistler’s granddaughter was born with a birth defect, spina bifida.

It was then that the Kistler family realized that Fort Smith was in need of a treatment center for children.

The Kistler family established SB Popcorn as a source of funding for The Gregory Kistler Center. The Center has continued to make a huge regional impact since its foundation in 1978. They now serve & meet the needs of both children & adults.

We are the fourth family to own and operate The Popped Popcorn Company.

Over 40 years later, we continue to pop and flavor Mrs. Kistler’s gourmet popcorn recipes in the J.A. Sparks building built in 1908. In 2008, we restored the building to its original color scheme and finishes.
