We would like to thank you for the interest in The Olde World Village. We strive to develop, provide and operate the highest quality entertainment, activities, educational opportunities and pseudo historical festivals in a faire type atmosphere at our outdoor entertainment venue known as "The Olde World Village". Through the help of our great group of volunteers, these events and other potential future productions, we aspire to run a profitable operation while maintaining our ties to our community and the charities that we try to help. We have already begun working with youth oriented groups like Camp Compass (Helen Devos Children's Hospital), Boyscout troupe 432 (Marshall), Cubscout pack 265 (Galesburg), Girlscout troupe 80435 (Gull Lake / Richland), Barnes & Noble, the Augusta Library, the Galesburg Library, along with charities such as the Great Lakes Burn Camp, Kalamazoo Animal Rescue, The Jaycee's and The Food Bank of South Central Michigan, The Kalamazoo Experimental Learning Center and so many more.
Our events have become a destination for so many guests, entertainers, merchants and artisans from across the country. With the continual expansion of our schedule, visits to our area from our guests will continue throughout the year. Our volunteers come from all over the state, but many are local. The majority of our entertainers and merchants are from out of the area, and stay in the area during the run of most of our events. They eat at our local restaurants, shop in our grocery stores, buy gas from our local gas stations, and enjoy drinks at our local pubs. Our advertising is outreaching, and helps draw new people to our area on a regular basis. These new visitors patronize our local businesses and help with the growth of our local economy.
We offer discounts to our veterans, and their dependents, public safety officers and seniors, and all kids that are 12 and younger are always free to all of our family friendly events, which makes it easier for families to afford to attend. With the first couple of years under our belts, we have already heard much positive feedback on the impact that our events have had on our local economy. We are working through the process of eventually being able to provide scholarships for dramatic arts and history per year to our volunteers that show outstanding progress and commitment through essays, accomplishments and achievements. Our staff will mentor and train volunteers and interns, giving them practical experience for the job market and we encourage local businesses to participate. We hope you will join us in a weekend of rest, relaxation & enjoyment at the next event at the Olde World Village. If you are interested in volunteer opportunities with us, please visit http://www.facebook.com/groups/279966708749169 Thank you and have a great day!
