Sweet Beats 3.03

Sweet Beats is a rhythmic calling spun by DJ Sweet Beats (aka Ginger Marianne Matsuura). Her hypnotic sound is upbeat and will get the crowd dancing with a mix of genres from disco, funk, house, old school, and hip-hop. Like a siren’s call, listeners willingly find her sounds in various venues and special events. Currently, listeners who want to sample her mesmerizing sounds can catch a glimpse of DJ Sweet Beats at Seventy7 Lounge in Culver City, and Mandrake Bar in Los Angeles.

The origins of DJ Sweet Beats are humble, but also true to the belief that good music should be shared and not confined to one place. Remembering the delightful sounds of an ice-cream truck blasting through the neighborhood and the promise for something sweet, she wanted to capture the same anticipation and delight when the source of that music was revealed. From that sense of nostalgia, the Sweet Beats truck was born.

Since 2011, the Sweet Beats mission has been to remind listeners of that nostalgia through music. With painstaking patience, DJ Sweet Beats renovated a 1957 Chevy Stepvan to include a full DJ booth & sound system. The retro visage of the truck pays homage to the beloved ice cream trucks of the past while her music fills the air with the modern beats of today.
