Sussex is a village in Waukesha County, Wisconsin, United States. It is approximately 19mi northwest of Milwaukee and 9mi north of Waukesha. The village is 7.24sqmi at an elevation of 930 feet. The population was 10,518 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area.HistoryIt was founded in 1843 by George Elliott, a bricklayer from Beckley, East Sussex, and Richard Cooling, a blacksmith from Dorset.GeographyAccording to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 7.62sqmi, of which, 7.57sqmi of it is land and 0.05sqmi is water.Demographics2010 censusAs of the census of 2010, there were 10,518 people, 4,039 households, and 2,932 families residing in the village.
