Sports Travel Program - Johnstown/Cambria County CVB 2.66

For decades, sports have played a significant role in defining the identity of Johnstown. Despite being considered a "small town," some of the most famous athletes have participated in competition in our area. Al Kaline, Rod Carew, and Ken Griffey Jr. all played baseball in the annual AAABA Tournament at the Point Stadium. Golf legends, Fred Couples, Tiger Woods, and Ben Crenshaw competed in the Sunnehanna Amateur Tournament of Champions. Basketball stars, Wilt Chamberlain and Sam Clancy exhibited their professional potential in the classic War Memorial Invitational. Between the athletes who have visited our town to compete and our own homegrown talent, it is undeniable that Johnstown has an extremely impressive history in athletics.

Today, many community members still strive to maintain our reputation as a "Sports Town." My responsibility as the Sports Travel Program Coordinator, is to continue to bring tournaments and competition to Johnstown and Cambria County. I will be working with our facility owners to bid on a variety of tournaments and competitions.

I am always open to suggestions and feedback because I believe that community support and involvement is essential to our success.
