Spartanburg is a train station in Spartanburg, South Carolina, served by Amtrak's Crescent train. The Hub City Railroad Museum is located in the depot building. It is located at 290 Magnolia Street, within walking distance of Wofford College, the Spartanburg County government administration building, and the Donald S. Russell Federal Building, which includes the federal courthouse for the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina.The Spartanburg station was originally part of a Union Station built in 1904 by the Southern Railway, and also served the Clinchfield Railroad and the Charleston & Western Carolina Railway. The main part of the depot was torn down in 1973. The remaining building was built in 1915 for Southeastern Express. Later it house Southern Express, then the Railway Express Agency. After the main depot was torn down it became offices for Southern Railway, along with a waiting room. In 1996 was damaged in a fire. One week after the fire, a teenaged boy launched a crusade to save the station through letters, editorials and meetings with local politicians. The station was eventually restored, and today houses the offices of the Hub City Farmer's Market, a small police substation and is the home of Hub City Railroad Museum.
