Rodan + Fields® is created by the world-famous creators of Proactiv®—the #1 acne system in the world. Dr. Katie Rodan and Kathy Fields recognized the power of their brand and what they were able to do for acne, and decided to do the same for aging skin (the largest category of skincare today). They developed Rodan and Fields and in 2002, launched the brand into high-end department stores like Nordstrom.
Their launch into department stores was very successful and they became a top clinical skincare brand. The products received many accolades in the press, and today they get more unpaid press coverage than any skincare company and all the direct selling companies combined. To meet the demand of the growing brand, the doctors hired freelancers to do events with Rodan + Fields while in retail.
These consultants happened to be in the right place at the right time as the doctors began to look for a better way to leverage the brand. In their research, they found the best way to do this in today’s time was through direct sales.
In an unprecedented move, the doctors moved Rodan + Fields out from under the glass counter and into direct sales, the first brand to successfully do this. The opportunity was presented for other consultants to offer these products through direct sales. Now Rodan and Fields is winning awards and experiencing growth at an unprecedented rate. They have since expanded into Canada, and will launch in Australia in 2016.
