Park Street Music 2.01

My name is Aelsa Butler, a young musician in the Bureau County area of Illinois. Based out of Arlington, my students come to me, and we play together, learning and hanging out!

I love the violin in all its forms, and adore music in general! I began taking lessons at the age of ten, more recently studying classical playing under David Lee until June 2014, when I began taking lessons from Ashley Fitzwater, concertmaster of the IVSO. While I am currently not taking violin lessons, I am an active music student, studying music theory under Mr. Michael Pecherek, and piano with Anne Badger. I will also be studying conducting privately under Mr. Michael Pecherek.

In August 2013, I became Assistant Concertmaster of the Illinois Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra (IVYSO), and in January 2014 was made Concertmaster. I also play viola and violin in the IVSO occasionally. I hope to bring my administration skills to the arts, and be a part of the music education community, continuing to grow in my own journey of knowledge as I help others begin theirs.

I currently volunteer for the IVYSO as an assistant to the business manager, filling in parts as a violist and percussionist for rehearsals, as well as working with NCI Artworks! on their arts calendar. As a student at Illinois Valley Community College, I am a Staff Writer for the student newspaper, the IV Leader. I am in my freshman year of pursuing a business degree with the specific intention of use in arts organizations.
