The Beginning:

The year 1969 saw the inception of a new service - the Manchester Ambulance Club. Alvin A. Zeigler donated the 1960 Cadillac ambulance and volunteers served as crewmembers and dispatchers. We were stationed in at Manchester Fire Company renting a bay and paying for half of the utilities.

The 1970's

1971

We ran 371 calls.

1972

We ran 362 calls.

In 1972, the ambulance club replaced the aging Cadillac ambulance with a new van-type ambulance. This new style ambulance allowed the crew to more easily treat their patients.

1973

We ran 373 calls.

1974

April 1974 911 went into effect and beginning using its service to be dispatched for emergency calls.

We ran 372 calls.

1975

January 1975 new pager system went into effect and were alerted for emergency calls by this not via telephone.

February 1975 the Ambulance Captain position was created and held by Martin Evanitus.

We ran 384 calls.

1976

May 1976 the ambulance club purchased a 1976 Chevrolet van ambulance to replace the 1972 model. David Worrell was ambulance Captain at the time and held the position until 1986.

1977

1978

1979

TMI Accident

December 1979 the 1st and 2nd Lieutenant positions were created by the club which were held by Dean Sipe and Joe Doubles.

The 1980's

1980

January 1980 the club ran 3500 calls since its incorporation in 1969.

July 1980 the ambulance was no longer dispatched on 33.90 and was now dispatched on Med 10.

We ran 330 calls.

1984

We ran 355 calls.

1985

We ran 401 calls.

1986

September 1986 the ambulance club responded to this need by purchasing a Braun mini-mod. The new ambulance increased the working space badly needed by EMT's.

We ran 511 calls.

1987

In the York County Fireman's Parade the Ambulance Club took 1st place for best appearing Braun, and 2nd place for Best Equipped Ambulance.

1989

We ran 538 calls.


The 1990's

1990

We ran 551 calls.

1991

April 1991 the Ambulance Club saw a need to have an Executive Board and created a Board of Directors which consisted of 5 members, including the President, Vice-President, Captain, 1st Lieutenant, and 2nd Lieutenant.

October 1991 the Ambulance Club decided along with creating a Board of Directors, By-Laws for the organization were needed. The club amended there first set of By-Laws as Manchester Ambulance Club.

1992

February 1992 the Ambulance Club saw a need to increase it's service to the community and purchased it's first Defibrillator. This month also brought about purchasing of land to build a new station and to move out of Manchester Fire Company.

May 1992 land was purchased by the Club on Devco Drive in East Manchester Township to build a new station.

June 1992 the Club put in service its new ambulance.

August 1992 the Club took 1st place for Best Appearing Braun in the York County Fireman's Parade.

1993

May 1993 the Club moved into it's new station on Devco Drive.

1994

1995

1996

January 1996 the Club received the Community Service Award from the Manchester Fire Company.

July 1996 the Club created a scholarship for a Northeaster High School senior who would be enrolling in the Medical Field.

November 1996 the Club discussed hiring paid EMT's to supplement the volunteers due to increase in call volume.

1997

February 1997 the Club began doing it's own billing.

April 1997 the Club took delivery of a 1997 Ford E-350 4x4 with E-One Box

November 1997 the Club hired its first full time Provider.

The 2000's

2000

We ran 748 calls.

2001

January 2001 the Club purchased a 2002 Ford E-450 with Horton Box.

February 2001 the Club purchased 2 Stryker Litters to replace the out of date litters.

November 2001 the Club placed in service QRS 23.

We ran 768 calls.

2002

January 2002 the new ambulance arrived and was placed in service as Ambulance 23-2, bringing the fleet to 2 Ambulances and a QRS.

2003

We ran 927 calls.

2004

June 2004 the Club decided to discontinue doing its own billing and went with Cornerstone Administration to do our billing.

We ran 936 calls.

2005

April 2005 the Club decided to do our trip sheets using EMSTAT.

We ran 1042 calls.

2006

May 2006 the Club created the position of Director of Operations held by Ryan Brenneman.

July 2006: We purchased a Ford Expedition that was placed in service as QRS 23

September 2006 the Club restructured its operations end creating the following positions; Director of Operations; Assistant Director of Operations; and two Lieutenants.

2007

January 2007 the Manchester Ambulance Club, decided to begin d/b/a Northeastern Area Emergency Medical Services.

January 2007 also brought upon the need for a complete re-writing of the By-Laws.

February 2007 the Club took delivery of a 2007 Chevy C4500 Type III Marque Brigadier, being placed in service as Ambulance 23-1, brining the fleet to a total of three ambulances. This month also a decision was made by the body to change the color scheme of our ambulances from purple and white to blue, white, and gold.

June 2007 Northeastern Area EMS adopted a new set of Standard Operating Guidelines.

July 2007 Ambulance 23-2 was repainted and re-lettered to match Ambulance 23-1

2011

We ran 1258 calls.

2012

We ran 1201 calls.

October 13th, 2013

Due to an increase in call volume, the Board of Directors decided to go ahead and purchase a third ambulance. Ambulance 23-3 is a 2006 Ford E-450 with a Osage box. Pics coming soon.

Today Ambulance 23-3 was offically placed in service..
