Mount Carmel is a town located in Hawkins County, Tennessee. As of the 2010 Census, the population was 5,429, an increase of 634 since the 2000 census. It is part of the Kingsport - Bristol (TN) - Bristol (VA) Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is a component of the Johnson City - Kingsport - Bristol, TN-VA Combined Statistical Area - commonly known as the "Tri-Cities" region.HistoryMount Carmel was once recognized as the only town in the United States to be totally on one side of the road.
