St. Josaphat was founded in 1889 by Polish Catholics and is located at 691 E Canfield St. (I75 and E. Canfield St.). Sweetest Heart of Mary was founded in 1889 by Polish Catholics and is located at 4440 Russell St (Russell St. & E. Canfield St.).

The two churches along with St. Joseph Church (1828 Jay Street) were merged into Mother of Divine Mercy Parish on July 1, 2013. On October 7, 2016, St. Joseph was un-merged and became the separate parish of St. Joseph Oratory.
