Dr. Fernandez is a native of North Carolina and graduated from Duke University in 1994 and the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry in 2000. After completing an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program with the Navy, he served for three years onboard the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76). Upon leaving the Navy in 2004, Dr. Fernandez assumed the practice of a retiring dentist and has modernized the facilities and equipment. Dr. Fernandez is past President of the Tidewater Dental Association, and a member of the Virginia Dental Association, the American Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry. He is also a member of the Young Alumni Council at the dental school and a member of several local study clubs. Dr. Fernandez was awarded the New Dentist Award by the Virginia Dental Association in 2007 and has been named a "Top Dentist" in Tidewater by Virginia Living Magazine in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016.
