Metro Deaf School. Learning Today, Leading Tomorrow
Metro Deaf School is a free public charter school for students ages 3โ21, who are primarily Deaf, DeafBlind and Hard of Hearing. We are an urban day school serving the seven-county Twin Cites, Minnesota and western Wisconsin area.
At Metro Deaf School, our curriculum is unique. We use a bilingual, American Sign Language (ASL) and English, interdisciplinary curriculum. Students are taught the linguistic structure of both languages, and the two languages are equally valued. Research has shown that students who have higher levels of ASL proficiency also have higher levels of English literacy (Strong and Prinz, 1007)
