Longfellow Elementary School 3.2

The original two-story building, named named after poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, opened its doors to to 314 students during the 1890-91 school year. The building had just eight rooms.

Alumni often held reunions to celebrate the school’s historic past. Veteran broadcaster Walt Bodine, a 1934 graduate, was among the thousands who have passed through Longfellow’s doors as students.
