KALEID (Greek for "beauty and form") was borne out of San Jose’s Phantom Galleries (art in vacant storefronts & alternative spaces project) in December 2006. Over 90 contemporary artists and designers from the Silicon Valley make use of a 6,000 square foot retail space with individual exhibits that include painting, sculpture, photography, ceramics, glass, jewelry and textile art. The artists range from young and emerging, to seasoned and well-accomplished. All art work is for sale and may be taken with you at the time of purchase.

Every First Friday of the month KALEID debuts two featured exhibits by residents artists to exhibit (and sell) a broader body of work. Artists are present to speak about their work and process at the receptions and the openings often feature live musical performances. Artists’ receptions are from 7pm–11pm and are part of the South First Fridays #ArtWalkSJ.

A dedicated crew of KALEID artists also host a monthly $2 art sale and creative get together called TWO BUCK Tuesdays. Postcard (or smaller) sized original works of art by dozens of artists are for sale for $2. The evening includes live demos, workshops, sketch sessions, music and special performances. TWO BUCK Tuesdays are every third Tuesday of the month from 7pm–10pm and are free to participate in or to attend.
