Invented by a man named Imi Lichtenfeld for use by the Jewish Underground Resistance during World War II for defense against the Nazi's and Brown-Shirts, Krav Maga was quite literally "born from combat" and "for combat". Today, the Israeli Krav Maga Association (IKMA), is headed by Imi's highest ranked student, Grand Master Haim Gidon, and has been adapted for both Law Enforcement and Civillian applications.
