IASPF’s core services include a Women’s Program, which provides educational, empowering experiences for refugee women. We offer workshops on topics including Women’s Health, Domestic Violence, American Culture, and Goal Setting. In addition, we host monthly social events and roundtable discussions.
The Youth Program assists young refugees with their transition into the US, through workshops and social events which engage youth in positive, community-building activities. Recent workshops include Resisting Peer Pressure, and How to Manage Stress. Activities such as bowling, movie nights, hiking, and ice skating enable youth to make friendships with others in the community. In addition, we host art classes, taught by a resident refugee artist.
The Employment Assistance Program is designed to prepare refugees for employment in the local community. We offer job seekers with one-on-one guidance, job/client matching, referral services, and workshops. Workshop topics include Resume Building, Interview Skills, and Job Skills Development.
IASPF also provides advocacy and referrals to housing, medical care, and community resources, transportation/translation services at no cost to Mercy Care patients, and low-cost document translation.
