Founded in 1985 by Sister Grace Miller who saw first hand the effects of poverty and homelessness in Rochester, the House of Mercy began as a small shelter in Central Park, then Hudson avenue and now operates in our biggest building yet from 285 Ormond Street. Rochester faces some of the most desperate levels of poverty in the county.
