Green Mountain College Online M.S. in Resilient and Sustainable Communities 2.46

For more than a generation now, scientists, activists, and informed citizens have understood the need to help advanced societies make the transition to something more sustainable--to live within the means of the planet. More recently, attempts to limit our environmental impacts have become urgent, framed as an attempt to hold off the consequences of anthropogenic climate change.

While sustainability is still an essential goal to strive for, it's no longer enough to hope that more sustainable practices will allow us to escape the impacts of climate change. We're already experiencing those impacts, so now we need to begin the necessary work of creating communities that are resilient enough to adapt to disruptions and evolve in preparation for the challenges ahead.

As the latest in a series of successful graduate programs from Green Mountain College, the M.S. in Resilient and Sustainable Communities is designed to prepare individuals for the important work at hand: evaluating and revising the basic components of our communities in order to ensure that they are performing their basic functions despite changes in environmental, political, and social conditions.

At Green Mountain College, we’ve been teaching about sustainability for over fifteen years. Our online MRSC program is fully accredited by the New England Association of Schools & Colleges (NEASC), and is designed to provide students with the skills to conduct in-depth interdisciplinary investigations into essential questions about how their communities might evolve in an age of accelerated climate change.
