"Friedens" is the German name for peace. The Church is also known as "The Mother Church of Rockingham". According to Lutheran records, it was established in 1749. The Church has been renovated several times, but the original chandelier, which was originally gas operated, but in 1954 was converted to electricity and still hangs from the center of the ceiling.
