Since 1996, Saturday nights in the summer have been the fun time for families and friends to enjoy a FREE movie at our Riverview Park recreation complex. A major motion picture is shown on a 24’ X 18’ screen located in our band shell. Bench seating for 300 people is available, but most families bring their own lawn chairs and blankets. In 2007, the “Movies in the Park” program was officially renamed “Walt’s Walk-in Theater” to honor co-founder Walt Skidmore. In 2008, we were honored to be recognized as the “Outside Family Movie Capital of Michigan”

To compliment each showing, a 100 year old barn is used as a concession stand which is called the “Teen Canteen”. Inside is staffed by teenage volunteers who are raising money to fund their respective teen groups or organizations. Hot popcorn, pizza, cold pop, ice cream, cotton candy, snow cones, coffee, hot chocolate and candy are available at really affordable prices! You may also bring a picnic basket and enjoy your own food and non-alcoholic refreshments while you watch the show.

All movies start at dusk (approx. 9:00 PM). It is recommended that families arrive early if they want a good location in the grassy viewing area. The Flushing Children’s Fun Zone, Tucker Swimming Pool, basketball and tennis courts, are located in the park so the children can play first, then relax at the movie.

The Movies in the Park Committee wants to thank all the families and sponsors for 14 great years. We have been truly blessed.

Sincerely,

Flushing “Movies in the Park” Committee
