Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) citizens and citizens affected by HIV experience a Michigan in which they lack the opportunity and legal protections afforded to most. In our state, it is still legal to fire or evict someone because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. We’re working to update state law so that Michigan treats LGBTQ people, people affected by HIV, and their families fairly.

Our staff consistently monitors lawmakers to ensure that pro-equality policies are supported and adopted. We work on these policy issues day in and day out:

• Discrimination in housing, employment and public accommodations
• Safe Schools
• Parenting and Adoption
• Immigration Equality
• Marriage
• Hate Crimes
• HIV/AIDS
