Part of Flagler University's Lifelong Learning Program
Discover the economic, community and health benefits of buying food that's grown close to home. Learn how to discern which foods really are locally-produced and the effort that goes into producing them. You'll learn what all the labels mean, including organic, all natural, free range, etc. Explore different ways you can easily grow and produce food for your family at home (herb garden with natural fertilizer, capture yeast for bread, grow sprouts, and make yogurt and pickles). The class will culminate with a trip to the Old City Farmers Market on a Saturday morning where you'll be able to test the skills you've learned.
