Most folks begin with the basics, Gentle Yoga, a Basics Session or Yin Yoga. Once you get familiar with the basic movements and breathing techniques (notice we didn't say 'get flexible', we don't care about that, just so you are familiar with the movements and are still breathing!) then you can try an Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Community or Rocket level one class. Level 2 comes next. Ashtanga yoga is a sequence of poses, similar to learning a dance and repeating it until you get smooooth in breath and movement. Vinyasa yoga uses many of the same poses but is a different sequence every time. Community class instructors vary so you will practice a level 1 class in that instructors style. Rocket is a series based on Ashtanga yoga but a little shorter and not quite as pretzel-y.
